TOP HEADLINES APRC Round 4 NZ Results Announcement Pennzoil GSR Racing team yet again soared to the finish line clinching the A6 title win in the forth leg of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) in Whangarei New Zealand last weekend (15th – 17th July). The team has effectively dominated the win under the A6 class category for vehicles under the 1.6 cc group since the start of the Championship in Malaysia last April. Sanjay Takle and Musa Sherif via their debut entry at the APRC for Pennzoil GSR Racing Team battled hard against 76 fiery competitors in their Proton Satria and emerged 21st overall and also 3rd in the 2 Wheel Drive class category. Both Indian nationals Sanjay and Musa also made headlines in their home country, being a full Indian team at the APRC joining Pennzoil GSR Racing team and recorded history to become the first Indian to win at any level in the APRC circuit. Sanjay commented “We had a good run and the Proton Satria car performed fantastically throughout the 16 stages despite the cold and wet conditions. I’m really happy to win the A6 class title on my debut entry at the APRC for Pennzoil Air Asia team”. Team owner Gunaseelan Rajoo also commended Sanjay and Musa for their victory in their maiden race and was very thrilled with the team’s performance given the tough weather conditions and competition from other international drivers. Unfortunately, luck was not on the side of team owner, Gunaseelan Rajoo with co-driver Jagdev Singh as they could not finish their rally, after their Ford Fiesta car encountered problem when the wheel came off in Stage 15 which caused them to retire. Gunaseelan Rajoo said “It’s disappointing we couldn’t finish the race, when we were so close, but that is how rally sports is, sometimes you have a bad day due to unfortunate incidents but our spirits are not dampened.” The race also saw casualties by team MRF’s Gaurav Gill from India and his New Zealand navigator Glenn McNeel at the 12th stage of the championship on the second day while Japan’s Katsu Taguchi also from the MRF team went off the road at Stage 14. Gunaseelan Rajoo is now leading 3rd under the 2 Wheel Drive Class category and with 2 more races in Japan and China, the APRC race certainly will keep us at the edge of our seat till the end. PENNZOIL GSR ALL GEARED UP TO RETAIN THEIR A6 TITLE The team will be heading down to the tropical paradise of Noumea, New Caledonia this weekend to participate in Round 3 of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship from the 17th to 19th of June 2011.

Currently in second place under the 2 Wheel Drive class after two rounds, the team could be facing stiffer competition for the championship goal in Noumea, given that 2 new contestants, Emmanual Guigou and Eric Riandet shall also be contending for the championship, driving a Renault Clio. Gunaseelan Rajoo said “This up-coming race shall be all about strategic driving, performance and reliability, as all drivers will be challenging hard to collect valuable points coming towards the end of the championship. CODY CROCKER REIGNS SUPREME IN KANGAR KANGAR - There was no looking back for Cody Crocker as he steps up his challenge for the Malaysian Rally Championship crown. No one could come close to him as the 41-year old Australian produced another sterling performance to win the Kangar round yesterday in a performance which has put him on the top of the overall leader board alongside defending champion Muhammad Rafiq Udhaya. But things had looked so uncertain for the Cody, a four-time Asia Pacific Rally Championship winner before the 26-driver field gathered in Kangar for the second round of the Malaysian Championship. After all he only had two points to show from the opening round in Kota Tinggi last month because his Subaru Impreza went off the road in the opening day and he was left with an enormous task ahead. But how his fortunes changed. On the opening day on Saturday in Kangar, Cody, driving under the Pennzoil GSR banner, killed the rest of the opposition to come home an easy winner. And yesterday he was in his element again and crossed the finishing line in style with a two-day total time of 1hr 17min 28.2secs. It was a worth a total of 16 points from his two-day work and add to the two points he won in Kota Tinggi, Cody is now on 18 points alongside Muhammad Rafiq, the defending champion. Muhammad Rafiq of the MRU Motorsports Team behind the wheels of a Subaru Impreza was third overall over the two days on a total time of 1hr 24mins 11.9secs. And in between them was the 11-time champion Karamjit Singh also of the GSR Pennzoil Team who produced a fighting performance in his Mitsubishi Evo to stay second in a time of 1hr: 17mins 45.5secs. "It's still a wide open race for the overall crown. We have Cody and Karamjit in the front but don't forget Muhammad Rafiq is there and should anything happen to our two cars, he can capitalise on it.” "After all, the gap is still so close and there are two more rounds (Malacca and Negeri Sembilan) to come," said Gunaseelan Rajoo, team leader of the GSR Pennzoil team. For Cody, things are looking up and the next round in Malacca in three months time could provide the real test. website www.malaysianrally.com - direct results link - http://malaysianrally.com/2011/mrc2011/results.asp Cool hand Cody Monday, May 30th, 2011 05:07:00 PETALING JAYA: Cody Crocker (left) is now the man to beat. Even the "Flying Sikh" Karamjit Singh, who is chasing his 12th overall crown and now third overall, found it hard to keep pace with Crocker. With this new engine oil, the team has managed to achieve an increase in the power and the engine runs cooler with it. According to Gunaseelan, for the first time in Malaysian history, the entire rally is going to be run on a Super Special stage concept for all the 24 stages. This concept, however, is spectator-friendly, and spectators are going to have a ball of a time watching all the action, being able to view it from the side of the road, from start of stage till the end. “This is the best time for all rally enthusiasts to come and watch us live in action”, he added. For those who have not seen Malaysia’s very own World Rally Champion Karamjit Singh in action, please try not to miss this weekend. GSR PENNZOIL RACING TEAM’s Supporters will be given goody bags and some discount vouchers each when they come to the PENNZOIL tent at the rally service park. They will also get a chance to meet our top drivers. For any enquiry, kindly call Mr Azwan Ahmat at 012-611 4052 of WheelSports Management and Mr Fairuz at 012-690 4041 from GSR PENNZOIL Racing Team.
